Robinsons in the Civil War

From Donald P. Robinson II, July 09, 2006 in response to Charles Anderson Robinson's letter of January 20:

I was quite interested in the brief info I read on the web site. My name is Donald P. Robinson II. My great-great grandfather, Cyrus Robinson, served in the Civil War, was discharged in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and my father, Donald P. Robinson Sr., has a copy of his discharge papers.

Of course I am wondering whether there is a family connection.

Cyrus was born circa 1840, we do not have any knowledge of his youth. He married a woman of Irish descent, first name Phoebe; their children: Samuel b. 1870, Isaac b.1872, Frederick b.1874 (my great-grandfather), William b.1877, Helen b. 1879, Girl??, Jacob b.?? and James b.??

Any info you may have, or ways to point me in the right direction would be appreciated. I would equally like to read more about your ancestors.

Thank you, Donald P. Robinson II
