Midland Diary

Spring 2005
Vaughn Family

Pictures, notes and interesting things that happen at the Midland Cemetery.

New tombstone for Maggie Vaughn.

At left, a brand new tombstone for Maggie Vaughn was installed this spring.  This is one of four new tombstones to be placed within a year's time, proof that our restoration and education efforts have not only improved the condition of the cemetery, but have given the local community enough confidence in our future to invest money and effort in new memorials.

Another new stone, produced in a similar style to mark the grave of Kenetta Dunlap, is shown at left.

Emma Miller stands beside the new headstone of her mother, Maggie Vaughn, and on the other side is the brother to Maggie, Kenetta Dunlap.  Both new headstones are pictured above.

Carey Family

Buzzy Reed and sister Annie Ballard standing behind the headstones of Carey Family ancestors: Great Aunt Mary Carey, sister of E.L. Carey, Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother H.A. Carey, with Infant Joseph Carey.

Another photo of Ralph (Buzzy) Reed and sister Annie Ballard shown standing behind grandfather Edward L. Carey Jr.'s headstone.  Their grandfather died in 1957.
